my Chinese level is quite bad. i'm a chinese, but i was born in Indonesia and the only way i could know Chinese was through tuition, plus we didn't talk Chinese there, so even though i'm studying in Singapore now, my Chinese is still pretty bad. i can listen to people talking, but my conversation skill is bad cos i can't seem to say the words in the correct tone or something. my reading's pretty slow too, and i don't understand too advanced Chinese. =X lol the different tones are definitely my downfall! only wen i start to speak fast in conversation and lots of sentences then my tones get all muddled...but then if i think about the tones before i speak..its really long and slow. hehe need a lot of improving |

GOOD! I speak Cantonese, conversational in Mandarin, but I can read and write Traditional Chinese. I can read and write some Simplified, but I prefer Trad =)

i can speak cantonese fluently..but i dunno how to write in chinese..only can read those simple words..

i can read traditional ones... my dad also and he doesnt know simplified... so both of us help each other.. hehe...

lucky~! i'm total ABC.. i think it's because my parents don't really speak to me in cantonese enough, or i respond in english/malay and it doesn't matter because they know it as well. and then they don't know much of reading or writing chinese either because they went to english schools in m'sia... ayo i am at such a disadvantage i should go teach myself or something  |
